Watermelon & Chia Seed Skin Smoothie

skin smoothie

Summer is the prime time for skin problems, at least that’s the case for me! I have done various face masks, got new cleansers, tested out toners- and still wasn’t getting the result I was looking for. I decided that maybe it wasn’t what I was putting on my skin, but more what I was putting in my body. I crafted up this yummy skin smoothie and after a week of sipping on this refreshing summer treat, I have already noticed a change in my skin! Yippee.

Why this smoothie is so good for you:

  • Vitamin A is one of the best antioxidants around, and watermelon has TONS of it! Vitamin A is great for building a strong immune system, improving your vision, and most importantly… it contributes to healthy skin.
  • Watermelon is great when it comes to preventing aging due to the fact it contains a certain chemical compound that improves skin cell regeneration.
  • Obviously for this smoothie you can use any kind of milk, but I chose coconut milk because it really helps to eliminate icky toxins from your body (and your skin)!
  • Chia seeds are all the rage these days, mainly because they are so incredibly good for you! They are full of omega 3 fatty acids, which play a huge role in nourishing your cells (nourished cells = glowing skin). These omegas also are great in creating a “barrier” for your skin, keeping water & nutrients in and toxins out.

Step 2: Place all your ingredients into your blender, a handheld one like the one above is ideal as it provides the perfect portion!

Step 3: Begin to blend your smoothie until you can see that it is nice and smooth- no chunks please!

Step 4: Once blended, drink up & enjoy! Try this smoothie 3x a week and you are well on your way to healthy & glowing skin.
