Eye catching nail art is such a trending statement to make nowadays, everyone wants in on it. It can be expensive and daunting to collect all the tools you could possibly need to recreate the hot looks you see in your favorite magazine.  Here’s one bold design that is sure to make your BFF jealous.

I call this “the claw” because the shape that it creates near your cuticle resembles a talon to me. All you need to get started are two complementary polishes.  I prefer a lighter shade and a darker shade for a high contrast look.

•  The first step with any successful manicure is a good base coat, preferably a nourishing one that strengthens and conditions like Julep Nail Therapy.

•  Next, polish your nails.  I’ve chosen to use Julep Heather and Julep Marisa.  I switched up the colors on my ring finger and thumb to add an interesting accent.

•  Now comes the “art” part.  The only tool you need in your arsenal is a somewhat steady hand.  Wipe off most of the polish from your brush, decide how far up your nail you want your design to be and place your brush.  Let it sit there without moving it for just a second to let the polish settle so you will get a nice round shape at the top.  Then smoothly sweep your brush toward the tip of your nail while moving ever so slightly toward the center.

•  Now repeat on the opposite side of your nail to create your “claw.”  Don’t forget to wrap your tips and seal it with your favorite top coat.  Ta da!
