Neon & Neutrals for Summer 2012

neon neutrals

Last summer neon was ruling the world of fashion, in quite an over the top way. People were rocking neon head to toe and just about everyone looked like they were headed off to a rave.  Let me say, if you can pull that look off, by all means- go for it. Yet for those of us who are less keen to looking like a glow stick, this summer’s incorporation of neon will most likely be more up your alley. Instead of drowning yourself in fluorescents this year, try pairing your hot pink pumps with a tan dress, or rock a neon yellow bib necklace with a crisp white tee and some denim cut-offs. As always, fashion is meant to be fun, so get creative and share with us your neon & neutral combo!

Hi Erica, excellent point that you made about pairing neon with soft neutrals.

That’s a great way for consumers to dip their toes in the water without having to go too deep.

Love the concept of incorporating neon into your accessories, as you’ve done in the top image too.

As far as neon, in general, the thing that continues to amaze us is how every indication seems to point to this trend not peaking yet.

Perhaps a good reason for it could be that as you’ve mentioned this year and last year we’ve seen a more practical approach to neon than we saw in the 90′s.

Great post and thanks for sharing!
