Guest Blogger: How to Make Your Look Pop With Tights

One of my favorite things about the cooler months is the ability to wear tights, I’ve always found that they’re a great way to update a look without going too overboard with accessories. They can give life to that mini or pair of shorts you love during the winter months, spruce up an otherwise ‘boring’ outfit and even add some color to a monochromatic palette.

1. Use Texture and Prints

Prints and texture are the easiest way to update any look, whether it’s a subtle vertical stripe to help elongate your legs or a fun leopard print (in a neutral) to spice things up. If you’re going for a print, think flattering, opt for vertical stripes instead of horizontal santa’s helper’s like stripes and if going with a bold print go neutral, it’s more slimming and hides imperfections better.

2. Play with Color

In many cases a pop of color is a great way to give a little (or a lot) of oomph to an outfit, tights are no exception to that rule, now a days you can find any color you desire in the shape wear form. Remember the lighter or more bold the color means the more attention to your legs, so if you’re not looking to accentuate your legs too much opt for a deeper hue like burgundy or navy.

3. Play with Layers

Tights aren’t just for dresses anymore, they’ve been spotted under just about everything you can think of, and one of my favorites happens to be shorts. It’s the perfect way to give a little more life to that pair of shorts you hating parting with when winter comes around, so why do it? Throw some tights under and Voila! A whole new look. Play around with different pieces in your closet and make a whole new wardrobe with spring and summer pieces, even play with color and texture from above. Remember to have fun!
