NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

1. Eligibility: Julep’s July Maven Video Contest (the “Promotion”) is open only to legal residents of the United States and the District of Columbia who are at least twenty-one (21) years old at the time of entry. Employees of Julep Beauty, Inc. (the “Administrator”), and their parent, subsidiary, and affiliate companies, suppliers as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible. Subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited. Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Administrator’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Promotion. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein. The Promotion consists of a contest (the “Contest”).

2. Timing:The Promotion begins on May 29, 2013 at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends on June 12, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. PT (the “Promotion Period”). Administrator’s computer is the official time keeping device for this Promotion.

3. How to Enter: During the Promotion Period, visit the Julep Facebook Page and click the “Meet Me in California” tab. Submit the online registration form including a 30 second video telling us where in California you’d like to travel with your best friend and why.

Limit: Each participant is eligible to enter one (1) time during the Promotion Period. Any attempt by any entrant to obtain more than the stated number of plays/entries by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entrant’s plays/entries and that entrant may be disqualified. Julep is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected registrations, which will be disqualified. In the event of a dispute as to any registration or play, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register will be deemed to be the registrant or player. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address. Potential winners may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder.

4.Contest Judging: Administrator’s decisions as to the administration and operation of the Promotion and the selection of potential winners are final and binding in all matters related to the Promotion. Contest: Administrator will judge and select five (5) Grand Prize Finalists from all eligible entries on or around June 17, 2013. Facebook users will then select the potential Grand Prize Winner by voting between June 18, 2013 at 12:00am P.T. and June 25, 2013 at 11:59pm P.T. (the “Voting Period). The video with the most votes on June 25, 2013 at 11:59pm P.T. will be determined the potential Grand Prize Winner.

5. ALL POTENTIAL WINNERS ARE SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION BY MAIN SPONSOR OR ADMINISTRATOR, WHOSE DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND BINDING IN ALL MATTERS RELATED TO THE PROMOTION. AN ENTRANT IS NOT A WINNER OF ANY PRIZE, UNLESS AND UNTIL ENTRANT’S ELIGIBILITY, AND GRAND PRIZE WINNER HAVE BEEN VERIFIED AND ENTRANT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED THAT VERIFICATION IS COMPLETE. ADMINISTRATOR WILL NOT ACCEPT SCREEN SHOTS OR OTHER EVIDENCE OF WINNING IN LIEU OF ITS VALIDATION PROCESS. ANY PLAY THAT OCCURS AFTER THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED FOR ANY REASON IS DEEMED A DEFECTIVE PLAY AND IS VOID AND WILL NOT BE HONORED.

6. Verification of Potential Winners: Potential winners must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. Each potential winner will be notified by mail, email or phone. Each potential prize winner will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release (“Affidavit”) (except where prohibited), which must be received by Administrator within ten (10) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent, in order to claim his/her prize (if applicable). If a potential winner of any prize cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the Affidavit within the required time period (if applicable), or prize is returned as undeliverable, such potential winner forfeits the prize. In the event that the potential Grand Prize winner is disqualified for any reason, Administrator will award the Grand Prize to the Finalist with the second highest number of total votes. All alternate potential winners are subject to all requirements set forth in these Official Rules. Only three (3) alternate winners will be selected after which the Grand Prize will remain un-awarded.

Introducing Julep's DD Creme. As a first-of-its-kind performance crème + new generation makeup, choosing the right tone for your skin has raised some questions in our community⎯we're listening and we're here to help!

Hey ladies!

There’s a lot of exciting chatter on our Facebook page about our new DD Crème.

As a first-of-its-kind performance crème + new generation makeup, choosing the right tone for your skin has raised some questions in our community⎯we’re listening and we’re here to help!

Our DD Crèmes have a flexible tint that, when applied gradually, can work on a variety of skin tones (especially as you start building a deeper tan throughout the upcoming summer months!). For example, Medium works just as fabulously on a light skinned brunette as it would on an olive skinned blonde – it’s all about working the crème into your skin until you achieve your personal desired level of coverage. Here are our tips for choosing the shade that’s right for you.

Our recommendations:

Light: If you stay fair skinned all year long and you tend to burn or redden easily in the sun, we recommend Light.

Medium: If you don’t quite feel like you’re fair skinned, and you can build up a small tan during the warmer months, we recommend Medium.

Medium-Dark: If you describe your skin tone somewhere in the broad realm of year-round golden, medium-beige, or medium-to-dark olive, we recommend Medium-Dark.

Dark: If you maintain a deep brown skin tone all year long, we recommend Dark.

Want some real world examples? Here’s what we’d choose for ladies in the Julep office:

For these ladies, we’d choose Light.

(note: no DD Crème is worn in these photos)

For these ladies, we’d suggest Medium.

(note: no DD Crème is worn in these photos)

For these ladies, we’d choose Medium-Dark.

(note: no DD Crème is worn in these photos)

For these ladies, we’d choose Dark.

(note: no DD Crème is worn in these photos)

Tips on Application

DD Crème can be used alone as a light, sheer, everyday moisturizing lotion. DD Crème warms up as you work it into your skin and absorbs so you’re left with a soft, smooth, and hydrated natural tint.

DD Crème has a buildable formula so you can apply it to your desired coverage level, so it can also be used as a lightweight foundation. A little bit goes a long way! Start by applying a thin, even layer across all areas of your face. Work the product into your skin using your Double Duty Brush, or a circular motion with your hand. The crème will blend in and leave you with a natural glow as it warms up to your skin tone and texture. Gradually re-apply to any areas you wish to add more coverage until you achieve your desired finish.

1. Pick a dress that’s made out of a fabric that can get wet. Don’t wear silk, satin, or something shiny – water will stain the material and leave you with a spotted dress! Your best bet is something made out of lightweight cotton or a linen blend. Also, patterned dresses tend to hide water spots better than monochrome colored ones.

2. Don’t wear a skirt or dress with a long hem. You’ll be stuck struggling to save the hem from wet grass and mud and probably end up ruining your beautiful dress. Save your closet and wear a dress that hits somewhere above your ankles.

3. As for shoes, avoid suede since it’s easily ruined by water damage. Instead, opt for chic footwear that can withstand some wetness like a pair of leather wedges or some patent leather flats. We wouldn’t recommend heels because they don’t offer great support for slippery terrain.

4. Bring a jacket! Rainy weather usually entails a colder climate so stay warm with a chic blazer or lightweight trench coat that will complement your dress. A jacket will also protect your outfit from any stray water droplets.

5. Add an umbrella for the perfect finishing touch to your outfit. This life-saving accessory will keep you dry and fashionable and also protect your chic up-do. If your dress is patterned, avoid an intricately embellished umbrella that will clash with your dress. Also, don’t show up with a supersized umbrella that is big enough to shield a family of four. You will only tire your arms out from carrying it around and risk knocking something over or bumping into other wedding guests. Your best bet would be a plain, light-colored umbrella that is sturdy enough to withstand some wind. There is nothing more annoying or embarrassing than an umbrella that repeatedly flips inside out (been there, so over that!)

On a final note, don’t let the less-than-ideal weather dampen your spirits! Weddings are a time of love and happiness and a rainy one will have its’ own romantic spin. Sit back and enjoy the ceremony, and know that you have one less thing to worry about- your outfit!

What do you think about these tips? Have any of your own? Feel free to share in the comments below!

There are many unwritten rules of Do's and Don't as a wedding guest. You know the color white is off-limits, and to not bring a date unless the invitation allows you to RSVP plus one. We have added a few more tips so you can be every bride's dream wedding attendee!

As a guest at a wedding, you know you are supposed to RSVP in a timely manner, wear appropriate attire, and pace yourself on the fruity cocktails at the reception’s open bar. And as much fun as it would be to remake our own version of Wedding Crashers, there are a few rules of etiquette as a proper guest, whether the wedding has a very formal black-tie theme or is so casual that shoes are only an option. Do’s and don’ts as a wedding guest may seem like common sense, but here are a few tips to ensure you are the perfectly polished attendee.

Do purchase your gift from the registry. Don’t worry about it seeming impersonal; you’ll feel better knowing that your gift to the newlyweds is truly something they want- and actually need. They’ll appreciate you took the time to pick out something that they specifically asked for.

Don’t forget to turn off your iPhone. If you’re like us, you don’t mind a little bit of the spotlight, but do your best to save it for the dance party after the ceremony rather than during those sweet vows.

Do overdress. Of course, stick to what the invite says, but if you have any doubt in your mind about what to wear, it is always better to over do it than to look (eek!) a little on the sloppy side.

Don’t wear ivory or cream. Pretty for spring, but a little too close to white for a wedding. There are so many different colors and patterns to choose from, and if you really need to go for some white, throw a white blazer or ivory tweed jacket over a floral print dress. And PS: don’t shy away from black! Make it seasonally appropriate by pairing it with a floppy white hat or a neutral clutch. Tres chic, non?

Do show off your dance moves. Whether you’re known for your perfect Macarena, Electric Slide, or imitation of Michael Jackson in Thriller, get out there and shake your groove thang.

Don’t try and shake what your momma gave ya after one too many drinks, no matter how good an idea it seems in the heat of the moment. We know this tip is one you already know, but there’s no harm in really nailing it into the ground. You’ll risk a mortifying wardrobe malfunction at worst, or taking a totally embarrassing picture at best.

And of course, for a final Do, have a good time! The weather might be less than sunny, or you may be anxious about a presentation you are giving on Monday, but enjoy the moment. Celebrate with all those around you, and have yourself a big slice (or two!) of cake.

Do you have any favorite Do’s and Don’ts of being a wedding guest? We’d love to hear your ideas in the comment below!

Your big day is a month away! Are your hands and nails ready for their close-up?

Are you cuticles camera ready? Do hangnails haunt you? Your hands and nails are front-and-center on your wedding day. We’ve built a tried-and-true, step-by-step plan to make your hands and nails as perfect as everything else will be on your big day.

30 days to go

Start a twice weekly routine of Glycolic Hand Scrub followed by Rock Star Hand Crème. The double-exfoliating action of glycolic acid and apricot seeds reveals noticeably softer and younger-looking hands after every single use. Rock Star’s anti-aging, emollient blend of shea butter, glycerin, coconut oil, and vitamin E keeps hands hydrated, even after washing.

Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum⎯daily. Dry and damaged cuticles will transform almost overnight, and continue to improve each day. Visibly stronger, smoother nails with fewer ridges and less splitting and brittleness in only 2-3 weeks. Plenty of time!

Finalize nail colors with your bridal party and order polishes or make any necessary appointments.

Book your bride-to-be manicure. The day before your wedding is ideal.

14 days to go

If you haven’t had a mani in a while, get one two weeks out. You’ll have another one the day before your wedding and the relatively close pampering will have your hands looking like they’ve been spoiled for life. Pro tip: No bright nail colors two weeks out! Bright, bold colors can stain your cuticles and make your day-before mani more trouble than you bargained for.

Hand-centric tasks like gardening and scrubbing dishes should be done with ultimate care. In other words: wear gloves. You’ll thank us in twenty years when you look back at the ring photos.

We know your hands are looking and feeling fabulous! Keep it up with Glycolic Hand Scrub, twice weekly. Rock Star Hand Crème and Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum daily.

Seven days to go

Weeeeee! One week until your big day! Exciting!

Remove any polish and put your nails on the “Oxygen only diet” by applying a coat of Oxygen Nail Treatment daily. Oxygen’s ground-breaking technology uses an advanced plant stem cell complex to make nails structurally stronger, less prone to breakage and splitting. Bonus: Oxygen’s barely-there color is perfect and pretty.

Glycolic Hand Scrub, Rock Star Hand Crème, Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum twice more this week. Can you believe how GORGEOUS your hands are?

Day before

Manicure time!

Day of

One layer of Freedom Top Coat for extra shine and protection.

Apply Julep’s Essential Cuticle Oil, an all-natural blend of essential oils and vitamin E which extends the life of your manicure while leaving a glossy sheen. Convenient roller-ball application makes this step a cinch to knock-out while multi-tasking.

One more application of Rock Star Hand Crème….

…..and down the aisle you go, you beautiful bride, you!

Any important tips that we missed? Let us know in the comments!

Picking out the perfect bouquet of flowers for Mom on Mother's Day can be difficult, unless you know the flower's symbolism! Here's how to pick out a flower to send Mom the perfect message on May 12th this year.

Why is it so difficult to pick the perfect bouquet of flowers for Mom on Mother’s Day? Maybe it’s because they have to be absolutely perfect. She did, after all, wipe your runny nose throughout your childhood and comfort you when the haircut you got last week didn’t quite look like the picture of Gisele you brought in to the stylist. We know how it goes. Mom has been there for everything and she deserves nothing less than the best on this day.Your mom may have a preference when it comes to flowers, but don’t be afraid to surprise her with something new! The fact that they’re from you will mean that, no matter the flower, they will be her favorite. Consider the symbolism of flowers this Mother’s Day, as each flower represents a different message. Decide on what you want your message to be, and pick your bouquet accordingly.

Roses are symbolic of grace, beauty, and appreciation and are a go-to for Mother’s Day. Roses also come in many different colors, each with their own symbolic message: yellow means friendship while pink roses stand for happiness. Select a bouquet to represent what you want to say, or mix and match your roses!

Lilacs have several meanings- one of them being the love between mother and child. Because of this, pretty lilacs are a perfect way to express your love for your mom this year. They are also known for representing faith and wisdom- perfect for the woman that has talked you through some hard times.

Tell your mom you recognize that nobody else has the same ability to comfort like she does with a bouquet of irises, which stand for warmth and affection.

Patience, beauty, and loyalty are represented by the daisy flower. Daisies express your appreciation for her unparalleled ability to love and remain patient and optimistic.

Orchids symbolize refinement and beauty, representing a woman with the utmost grace and sophistication. This exotic flower is unexpected and makes a statement that recognizes both her inner and outer beauty.

As a symbol for eternal love, carnations send the message that your love for her is unconditional. Light red carnations represent admiration, while pink stand for gratitude; both have a very heartfelt and sincere meaning, perfect for a day like this one.

Flowers are a beautifully simple way to express your love for your mom, and she’ll know that you spent time picking out the perfect ones for her. Although there aren’t any flowers that exactly mean “Thanks for changing all those diapers”, there are so many to show her how much you truly appreciate her. Every woman loves a gorgeous bouquet of flowers on Mother’s Day- especially when she knows each one was picked out with her in mind!
