Effective Ways to Make Your Manicure Last

  • how to make a manicure lastStep 1: Soak em. First things first, you are going to want to soak your nails in warm water for just about 3-5 minutes. This will make sure you are starting off with a clean base.
  • Step 2: Apply acetone first. I know this sounds weird because acetone is usually meant to be used to remove nail polish, but it is great to use it before you start painting so that you can remove any excess oils.
  • Step 3: Base coat. This one you probably already know, but it is pretty important. Base coat provides a some what “sticky” layer that will help your polish adhere.
  • Step 4: Consider your polish. Glitter and metallic polishes last longer because the small speckles of shimmer and/or glitter stick better to your nail.
  • Step 5: Paint and seal. Painting your nails in a few thin coats will help your polish last longer than if you try and apply one or two thick coats. When done painting your nails paint a horizontal line across the top edge of your nail and a bit under your nail. This provides a protective seal.
  • Step 6: Top off and dry. Paint a thin layer of quality top coat over your polish and let your nails dry. It is important to let your nails fully dry before doing anything. For some tips on how to dry your nails in a flash check out this post!
