Beachy waves are one of the most sought after hair styles during the summer time, yet are usually best achieved when after going to the beach (hence the name)! It’s a shame because I love the way my locks look after a dip in the ocean, but going to the beach and swimming everyday just isn’t reasonable… for obvious reasons. As I was trying (and failing) to achieve this look with my curling iron, I had an epiphany. Why not just make my own salt spray to get my hair those waves I am longing for?
This DIY sea salt spray is not only super easy to make, but will leave you with soft & beautiful beach hair.

- Step 1: Gather your supplies! You will need one empty spray bottle (which you can get at your local drugstore), 1 cup of water, 1 teaspoon of sea salt, 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil, a could drops of tea tree oil (optional), and a dollop of conditioner (also optional).
- Step 2: Add your water and your sea salt to your spray bottle and shake together so the salt dissolves.
- Step 3: Add your coconut oil to the bottle as well.
- Step 4: Lastly, you can add your optional “add-ons”. The conditioner will help keep your hair soft (as the salt can be drying), and the tea tree oil is great if you have a normally oily scalp!

I was reading your article about making your own sea salt spray and was wondering where you get the coconut and tea tree oil at? Just wondering cause I pay money to buy this spray and would love to make it myself so I could save money…thanks so much!

coconut oil you can get at your local health food store, and chances are they will have tea tree oil as well- if not, Bath & Body works carries Tea Tree oil!

Do you put it in your hair when its wet? and how much should you spray? Thanks!!!!

Put it in your hair when it is damp and 4-5 sprays should be enough depending on your hair thickness. You don’t want to saturate the hair, but you need enough for it to work!
