I’m so glad maxi skirts are everywhere these days. I wear them to the beach, the mall, the office, to dinner, and just about everywhere in between. I always get a lot of compliments when I wear a maxi skirt at work. I think it’s because most people see them as a flip flops and bikini tops kind of skirt. If I know I’m going to meet the girls for drinks after work I bring a small bag of “additions” with me that day and transform my outfit in a matter of minutes.
For the daytime, working girl portion of this outfit I started with a fuzzy cream sweater with a basic white tank underneath. I wore my comfiest maxi skirt because I hate feeling uncomfortable and stuffy while sitting at my desk. I also chose a brown ankle boot with a smaller heel.
I kept the accessories simple, choosing Jewelmint’s Pomander necklace, because chunky bracelets and earrings can really get in the way while typing or talking on the phone. This outfit is relaxed but professional and honestly, it feels like being in pajamas all day!
For my happy hour loving, after work look I took off the sweater, keeping the white tank underneath, and added a fun leopard jacket. I love the texture of this jacket and since my maxi and my tank were basically the same material, it made this outfit look a little more upscale.
I tied a black sequin sash around my waist for a subtle pop of glam. I threw on some chunky bangles in cream & gold, my favorite spiked ASOS necklace, Jewelmint Saber Tooth ring, and some very cool, faux leather detail, H&M earrings. Being a crazy shoe lover, I had to add a pair of turquoise glitter platforms from ASOS to top it all off!
I absolutely love being able to put on something at 7am and make it work for 7pm with just a few simple adjustments. To get this look yourself there are only a few simple things to remember.
- Layering is key. If you can peel off a shirt or two from your work look to reveal a pretty cami or tank then you can avoid bringing extra clothes with you. Also, purchase a unique jacket that will compliment your basics and show of your sense of style.
- Accessorize. Sometimes your dominatrix looking spiked necklaces and earrings are not work friendly but that doesn’t mean you can’t toss them in your purse to add later. Something as simple as adding a belt will break up your long flowing look and make it more interesting.
- Statement Shoes. A simple shoe swap can completely change your look from daytime to evening. Adding a heel to a maxi skirt will make you look more dressed up and your legs and bum, although covered up, will get a sexy boost.
