Changing Weather, Adapting Winter Makeup

The sunny, humid, and warm days of summer have gone- and they’ve taken our beautiful natural summer glow with them. With the harsh, dry, and less humid winter season now in full force, it’s time to make a few much needed adjustments to our makeup routine.

-Apply rich oil based moisturizing lotion during the day in order to prevent your skin from drying out. At night, you can use a heavier moisturizer with essential nutrients to rejuvenate and replenish your skin.

-Use a protective and hydrating foundation with a matte finish, as opposed to a shiny finish. When applying your foundation, it’s better to use a brush rather than a sponge since it absorbs your skin’s vital natural moisture.

-Paler skin is normal, and lets be honest- expected- in the winter. Therefore you want to apply makeup with vibrant and rich colors that will give you a livelier look without looking overdone.

-Choose a foundation that is one shade lighter to make your skin look brighter and apply a little bronzer for a hint of shimmer and a more brilliant look.

-Try to stick with matte eye shadows that reflect the colors in your winter wardrobe; greys and browns are always a safe choice!

-Since your lips will also be suffering from the dryer weather and craving moisture, use a hydrating lip color with shine for a healthy refreshing finish. As for color, stick to red plum and rich maroons for a fresh yet graceful look.
