I am the absolute worst at waiting for my nails to dry… I always let my impatience get the best of me by trying to grab my cell phone or browse the web (bad idea). These actions always result in an unwanted smudge on my perfectly polished nails. Whether I am sticking my nails in front of the fan, out the car window, or blowing profusely on them- I am always looking to speed up the drying process. After some serious internet research I found a few ways to effectively dry your nails quickly, all of which I can’t WAIT to test out!!
Check ‘em out below and let me know how they work for you.

- + Cooking spray. This one sounded crazy to me when I read it, but from the looks of it- people swear that this product meant for greasing your cookie sheet is super at speed-drying your freshly painted nails. Who would of thought?
- + Blow ‘em out. I mentioned above that I am often caught losing my breath over constantly blowing my nails dry, so why didn’t I just use a blow dryer instead? Who knows… silly me! Anyway, all you need to do is turn your blow dryer to the cool setting and blast those nails dry.
- + Ice water dunk. I recently read somewhere that Olivia Palermo is a fan of ice dunking her mani to speed up the drying process, and considering her nails always look flawless- why wouldn’t we take her beauty advice? Simply paint your nails, let dry for a minute, and dunk them in a bowl of ice cold water to set your polish.
- + Flash freeze them. When all else fails and your nails are still a bit tacky, take a trip to your freezer and let your hands chill there for a bit. Pun intended.
If you have any secret nail drying tips or tricks, please… do share!

I agree cold water helps! I’ve run my nails under cold water in a pinch and it’s great! That being said, a good fast drying top coat is the best at keeping my nails smudge free!

Ice water dunk worked great for me. (I actually did 4 coats of paint do to a nail design that called for it )Let them dry until they were tacky and dunked my nails in ice water. It’s extremely cold if you do put ice water in them but my nails were pretty much dried in 3 minutes and extremely glossy!

I usually paint my nails in my garage (in winter it is probably -15 degrees Celsius) and yes, my nails dry quite quickly.

Keep in mind though, when you use the blow-dryer method, heat won’t help dry them. That’s why blowing on your nails with your breath isn’t really helpful. Make sure whatever air you’re using to dry is cold!
