Looking to swap your classic red lipstick for something a bit more fun this summer? Here are 4 fruity (and eye-catching) shades that you should test out in the upcoming months:
1. Raspberry Red: This shade of red is great for summer, as it is much less daring than your typical red, yet still makes a bold statement. This color is easy to pull off on a variety of skin tones, so my only tip is to be sure to use a matching lip liner. Red often bleeds, and lip liner is the easiest way to keep that bleeding under control.
2. Tangy Tangerine: Looking to rock this fun lip color, but don’t really know if you can pull it off? Sure you can, you just need a few pointers! If you have fair skin you should look for colors that have coral undertones, if you have olive skin be sure to avoid any pink undertones. When wearing a bright lipstick it is important to tone down the eye make-up, and instead try a matching shade of blush.
3. Watermelon Pink: This is my personal favorite shade of lipstick, as it is the perfect accoutrement to the warm summer weather. Yet it is always important to pick the right shade of pink for your skin tone, as you want to avoid looking like an 80′s pop star at all costs. Once again, this is a bold color, so avoid wearing tons of eye makeup. A bit of blush and a swipe of mascara should be sufficient.
4. Plum Purple: Purples can be tricky, mostly due to the fact that if they have too many blue undertones, you may look like you are on the edge of hypothermia. Which is most obviously NOT a good summer look. When searching for the perfect purple try to find something with a berry or plum undertone. If you don’t want to jump straight into a deep purple lipstick, there are tons of great tinted lip-gloss colors to ease you into this look.
